Bharatpur is a town in the state of Rajasthan. It was built by King Suraj Mal in the year 1733. Bharatpur was formerly an unconquerable, well-bordered city, and the capital of Jat Maharajas. Situated around 50 miles west of Agra, this city is also known as regional head office of Bharatpur District. The Jat rulers of Bharatpur were from Sinsinwar clan. Bharatpur is situated at 27.22° N 77.48° E.
Keoladeo National Park situated in this city is included in World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Keoladeo National parks has 364 species of birds, including the rare Siberian Crane has been recorded in the park.
The Duck hunting reserve situated in this ciyt is the main attraction for majority of travelers visiting this place. Government museum, the palace, Jawahar Burj and Fatej Burj, Gopal bhavan and Deeg fort etc. are major places of attraction in Bharatpur. People of this place celebrate many festivals; some of them are Brij festivals, jaswant exhibition, Ganguar and Teej etc.
Bharatpur is also a tourist’s destination. Some places are away from city like national parks. For the sake of tourist’s ease it is connected to railways. Bharatpur can be reached by roads ways. It is connected by airlines and to travel local places there are car, bus, motorcycle, taxi and rickshaw. |
