Chittaurgarh is an ancient town in Rajasthan state of western India. It is located on the Berach River, a tributary of the Banas. It is the administrative headquarters of Chittaurgarh District and a former capital of the erstwhile kingdom of Mewar. Chittaurgarh is located at 24.88° N 74.63° E. It has an average elevation of 394 meters (1292 feet). Traditionally, it was thought that Chittor was build by the Maurya reign in the 7th century AD. Chittaurgarh is the epitome of Rajput (Indian warrior caste).
