City Palace Udaipur - Rajasthan Travel Guide

City Palace Udaipur is a palace situated in Udaipur in Rajasthan state of India. It was built by Maharana Udai Singh and is one of the main tourist attractions of the city. There are different massive gates to lead the City Palace through hati phol or elephant gate. Located on the east bank of Lake Pichola is a huge series of palaces build at various periods from 1559. The balcony of the fort provides clear view of "Jag Niwas". Its major entry point is from the triple-arched gate. City Palace is popular in the world for its natural and cultural beauty.

City Palace is among the biggest palaces in the world. The palace is built in front of the Rai Angan, a rectangular courtyard. City Palace is gorgeous palace. There are three famous places which are Fateh Prakash Palace, Dil Khusal Mahal and City Palace etc are the tourists’ attraction places. Dul Khusal Palace is another palace that is full with mirror work with a painted and guilt background. The most unique of this room is that it has a mirrored ceiling and walls but also has decorative glass floor. The former guesthouses of the city palace, Shiv Niwas and the Fateh Prakash Palace have been converted into heritage hotels.

City palace is in Udaipur and there are many means of transportation. Being top tourists destination there are all types of transportation available to visit this palace like Car, bus, taxi, auto rickshaw etc. Taxi is the best way to travel because you can go whenever you like and can see many places at lower cost. Auto rickshaw is cheaper but it takes long time to reach there. There are local buses too but it can be uncomfortable. Private car is also suitable to hire but you have to discuss the fare.
