Jalore fort, from 10th century, main attraction of the town Jalore of Rajasthan state, also known as sonagir or the golden mount.Jalore fort is one of the Paramaras, nine castles of Maru.
Jalore fort is known for its intricate path to reach, located at top of a steep mountain hill. Main attraction are its four main poles or gate, The Suraj Pol, Dhruv Pol, Chand Pol and the Sire Pol.Suraj Pol or sun Pol was made in accordance with the first morning sun ray to enter, with watch over it.
Innovative attraction of Jalore fort is its Topekhana, great collection of cannons .Also Topekhana Masjid (Arsenal Mosque) and the Kila Masjid (Fort Mosque) show an incredible Gujarati architecture elegancy. West of the ford have tomb of Saint Jalindernath Maharaj.Jalore name got his origin from this only.
Another exciting attraction is Jain Temples .Amongst all the white marble temple, Parshavnath is best to look for. Other Jain temples are Chaumukhi temple and Shwetambara Jain temple. Shiva temple is also a must watch place inside the Jalore fort, in this a mysterious magical sward was given to the king during war. Also have triple temple devoted to lord Amba mata, Ashapuri and Hanuman.
