Kumbhalgarh is located in southern part of Rajasthan. It is situated about 105 km to the west of Udaipur. This fort was virtually inaccessible in 15th century. Rana Kumbar of Marwar designed this great fortress on hill which is situated at a height of 3500 feet above the earth surface which is approximately 1100 meters high. The person standing on the fort can easily see the approach made by every individual from Ajmer and Marwar. Kumbhalgarh fort is supposed to be the second longest wall after the Great Wall of China. This fort stands on a rocky hill commanding an excellent view of the wild and rugged scenery of the Aravallis and the sandy desert of Marwar.
The ideal time to visit Kumbhalgarh is from any time within the month of September to March, since the climate is either cold or pleasant for people visiting the place. Tourists can hire scooter for Rs 300 for 3 hours which don’t require any international license. You should not feel shame for bargaining the cost or else you will be cheated a lot by the rickshaw drivers. |
