Lalgarh Palace is a palace in Bikaner in the Indian state of Rajasthan .Lalgarh Palace was built by Maharaja Ganga Singh Ji in memory of his father Maharaja Lal Singh Ji in 1902. The architecture of this palace is fusion of Rajput, Mughal and European architecture. The building was commissioned by the British controlled regency for Maharaja Ganga Singh (1881 - 1942) while he was still in his minority as they considered the existing Junagarh palace unsuitable for a modern monarch. Though the Bikaner Royal Family still lives in the palace but part of the building has been converted into a hotel operated by the Welcome Heritage Group.
The most beautiful thing about Lalgarh palace is latticework and filigree work, which are truly appreciated by the visitors. The Palace has an awesome collection of beautifully maintained paintings and hunting trophies. Sprawling lawns with flowering bougainvillea and dancing peacocks make a visual extravagance. Portion of Lalgarh palace has been changed into luxury hotels and museum. The palace is home of the Shri Sadul Museum as well as the fourth biggest library in the world. The palace museum showcases well conserved hunting trophies and ancient photographs. The library of the Lalgarh palace is considered to have the biggest compilation of unique Sanskrit manuscripts on parchments, copper and gold or silver plaques.
Travelers can travel without any problem because there is lots of transportation. For Long distances you can travel by taxi and local bus. You can hire taxi according for comfort and luxury but it is expensive than local vehicles. Local buses charge low price but they don’t run on fix time and are normally late too. You can travel by auto and cycle rickshaw which can be found anywhere in the city and are cheaper and suitable for short distance. Traveling Rajasthan is very convenient, comfortable and very knowledgeable. |
